Team Mission

Design, assemble, and implement a stand alone dynamometer testing system for the Formula SAE team motorcycle race engines.

Project Requirements

  • Electrical Power Dissipation
    • Evaluate existing DC/AC current management
    • Size and obtain appropriately sized DC motor
  • Dynamometer Controller Operation
    • Establish manual operation of controller with existing DC motor driver
    • Establish Serial communications with controller
    • Create graphical user interface for user to control dynamometer using a PC
  • Engine Instrumentation and Operation
    • Determine sensor types for desired engine data
    • Create graphical user interface to manage data and engine controls
  • Dynamometer Chassis Design
    • Design a structure to support engine and trunnion mounted absorber
    • Engine to be mounted on a large area adaptable for other engine testing
    • Implement all neccesary engine operational support systems (fuel, cooling, etc.)
  • Key Business Goals
